The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children have their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. When a child comes in for this complimentary evaluation, Dr. Matthew Durschlag screens them for early problems such as crossbites, crowding, open bites, flared teeth, deep overbite, underbites, spacing, blocked teeth, and thumb or finger habits. There are a large percentage of kids that will benefit from phase 1 treatment, but if not necessary, they’ll enter our growth and development observation program, called the Smile Pros Kids’ Club.
